Impact

Why this matters

Redundancy is accelerating, AI is reshaping roles, and mid‑career Londoners are falling through the support gap.

Mid‑career professionals receive some of the least targeted support, yet face a high risk of long‑term unemployment when they are pushed out of fast‑changing sectors.

Underrepresented communities are disproportionately affected by redundancy and underemployment, which is why our 51% mission sits at the heart of our impact.

Supporting them back into good work is not only fair; it strengthens London’s economy and social fabric.

Our impact framework

We measure our work at three levels:

Skills and mindset

Confidence, career clarity and digital/AI readiness before and after the programme.

Job‑search activity, networking, applications and use of new tools.

Time to re‑entry, type of role, pay and perceived financial security.

For 2026 we are tracking cohort‑level goals such as:

  • Increases in confidence, clarity and future‑readiness.
  • Reductions in isolation and “stuckness”.
  • Employment, retraining or self‑employment outcomes at three, six and twelve months.

The story we want to tell

For participants:

  • “I feel like myself again.”
  • “I understand where I fit in the future of work.”
  • “I have the skills, language and support to move forward.”

For London:

  • Higher labour‑market participation and lower economic inactivity.
  • Fewer people left behind by AI and restructuring.
  • Stronger, more inclusive growth and community resilience.

Avenir Lab (The Insight)

Avenir Lab is our insight engine – where data, stories and lived experience come together to move the system, not just individual careers.

To design better solutions, we first need better data. Avenir Lab is developing the Redundancy & Reset Census – a first‑of‑its‑kind, London‑focused longitudinal study into the human experience of workforce displacement. It will track what really happens before, during and after redundancy, across confidence, skills, identity and re‑employment.

By closing this insight gap, we aim to ensure that government policy and corporate strategy are rooted in the lived reality of the professional experience, not just headline statistics. The findings will inform policy conversations and directly shape the Avenir Redundancy Accreditation Framework for employers.

The Redundancy & Reset Census is currently in development. We are seeking funders and research partners to help shape and launch this work.

Avenir Redundancy Accreditation (The Accountability)

Launching in 2027, the Avenir Redundancy Accreditation will be the UK’s first standard for responsible career transitions.

The Avenir Standard will move organisations from transactional exits to transformative resets. We will score what matters most to people going through change: clarity of communication, quality of support and the velocity of re‑employment into good work.
